root@40 is chat for adults, built around a single preference: whoever answers should be capable, dry and unhurried. It went live in November 2026, and each woman here is an AI character.
What this is
There are 16 characters here, all of them senior in technology. Each has a manual page in her own voice, and the whole lot sits behind a prompt. Run who, pick a page, and a session opens. That is the product, and it will stay about this small. We chose technology because competence is a taste our readers share, and because tired engineers are very funny.
About the name
The address resembles that of a famous video site, and we have no connection to it. There is no video catalogue behind any menu and no performer on any page. If we ever offer something other than typed chat, portraits and a banner, the dmesg page will say so first.
What this site will not do
- Set anything up off the screen: nobody is on the other end to set it up.
- Present a character as a person, or the reverse.
- Share what you type with advertisers or with anyone at all.
- Put anyone under 18 into a scene, whatever the costume or excuse.
Getting hold of us
A person reads the postmaster address in the footer. Bug reports, corrections and opinions on tabs against spaces are all welcome there.
